It was nearly 18 years ago when the first Four Points by Sheraton was built in Atlantic Canada. Built in a central location in the heart of downtown, the hotel is connected to the Maritime Centre, and is within easy walking distance of famed Historic Properties (Citadel Hill, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, the Waterfront, Pier 21, the Public Gardens and the renowned shopping and dining of Spring Garden Road). The $15 million project officially opened in September 2001.

The Four Points by Sheraton Halifax, is a 178 room full service hotel, with 18 suites, 1,500 sq. ft. of premium meeting space, a heated indoor pool with exercise facility, and underground parking. It also includes the 165-seat Pacifico Bar & Grill and 35-seat lounge.

18 years ago, the owners, Fortis Properties Corporation was searching for a material that was more cost-effective than natural Granite for their ground breaking project in Halifax. With that said, the sustainability & performance of aluminum composite rain-screen systems caught their eye. Ultimately, they ended up selecting Alpolic because of it’s resilience to the local climate, its light-weight that reduced construction cost, and it’s natural beauty and long-lasting finish and performance of the rain screen system.

Originally, Fortis Properties wanted granite for its luxurious appearance, but couldn't fit it in their budget. Therefore, they went with Alpolic Aluminum panels in a Red Granite finish with a dry joint to achieve the same high-quality, luxurious finish for much less. The most amazing part? It looks just as good today as the day it was installed.

Congratulations to Vicwest, who fabricated the panels and Lindsay Construction who installed them. We are honoured to have been a part of such a successful project that has stood the test of time.
