elZinc is excited to announce the launch of one of the largest photovoltaic plants in Asturias, Spain. This solar generation facility, initially boasting a peak power capacity of 2.9 megawatts, will be comprised of over 6,500 solar panels covering an area nearly equivalent to two football fields, totaling 13,000 square meters, installed atop our factory in Asturias.
Through this installation, we anticipate an annual energy consumption reduction of 17%, which equates to nearly 3 million kilowatt-hours in savings. Furthermore, we will be preventing the emission of 893 tonnes of CO2 annually, making a positive impact on air quality comparable to that of over 65,000 newly planted trees.
At elZinc, our commitment to the environment is unwavering. The establishment of this solar generation plant aligns with our broader environmental sustainability policy, which encompasses actions such as obtaining ISO 50001 certification for Energy Efficiency and the implementation of technologies that optimize the use of raw materials and energy resources. This initiative underscores our dedication to responsible environmental practices and reinforces our role as a conscientious corporate citizen, both globally and within the Canadian market through elZinc’s valued partner, Exterior Technologies Group.
